In a statement confirming a special operation on Sunday that targeted airfields used by Russian strategic bombers, Ukraine’s Security Service (SBU) said it had hit a third of Russia’s strategic cruise missile carriers.

“Seven billion U.S. dollars — that is the estimated value of the enemy’s strategic aviation assets struck today as a result of the SBU’s special operation ‘Spiderweb.’ A total of 34 percent of Russia’s strategic cruise missile carriers at major airbases were hit,” the SBU said. (The claims have not been independently verified.)

The post was accompanied by a photograph of SBU chief Vasyl Malyuk standing beside a schematic of the “Spiderweb” operation. The same image had earlier been published by the Ukrainian outlet Babel.
